Sonya is a licensed clinical social worker and has been practicing for 30 years. She is a graduate of Oakwood University and Columbia University.  She has worked in the capacities of school social worker, adjudicated youth, teen mothers, and the elderly.  Derrick has an MSW in social work and was in law enforcement for 11 years, working as a Dean of Students for  10 years. Derrick and Sonya have been married for 27 years. Their daughter Sian is a graduate of the University of  Michigan with her MSW and is currently seeing clients from 8 years old to 22 years old.
